Run Like a Girl...

With the half-marathon triple crown (finishing the Carlsbad, La Jolla & AFC in the same year), these half-marathons sell out fast. I ran the Carlsbad in January, I skipped Jolla because I don't like the course, and I just couldn't decide if I wanted to run the America's Finest City Half Marathon. I waited so long that it sold out. Then my TNT coach, Cheryl, had some entries available. Still I waited. Then, last Thursday night I decided that I wanted to run The AFC (which was today). I put out a couple messages on Facebook, scoured the ads on Craigslist, then it happened.

One of my TNT teammates had a friends who is in the military and was out at sea this weekend. Her first response was "there may be a problem - the entry belongs to a female". My response was "no problem, the race numbers all look the same". So, today I ran as a 38-year old woman!  This wasn't the first time I had run as somebody else. Because of my procrastination, I have now run as somebody else 4 times!  Next year, I'll just do the right thing and sign up.

Today it was perfect running weather. Not the usual hot, humid day that usually plagues the AFC half. I finished in in 2:02. Not a PR for me, but I'll take it!
