Week #7 - Honored Teammate Picnic

This morning, three of our teams converged on Paradise Point, and I ran 11.3 miles, followed by our annual Honored Teammate Picnic. This is a time for us to meet people affected by blood cancer. It really reminds us why we're out here training when our family is still in bed. The toughest part is hearing from parents of children with blood cancer.
We met 2 of them this morning, and it's heartbreaking, but also reminds me how thankful I am to have healthy kids, and why we need to continue fundraising until there cures for these diseases. We also heard from a doctor with a rare form of lymphoma who is about to undergo stem cell replacement to help him fight his cancer. If you give blood, you can also ask to be registered as a possible steam cell or bone marrow match, and all it takes is a swab of your cheek.
